About Me

Saksham Rai

Saksham Rai is the di-syllabic tone I respond to.

My mentors and well-wishers identify me as a young, exuberant, talented and a ‘capable’ youngster (which is exactly what ‘Saksham’ means) that is well set to scale newer heights soon.

I vehemently believe I have the qualities and credentials that qualifies make me as an all-rounder.

Born in 2001, and being a Delhi-boy to the core, I am confident about my communication skills and how they enable me to channelize the available resources and people to get the best required results. A trait picked up from my Dad, I give utmost priority to humility and keeping my feet grounded that makes it easy for me to maintain good and healthy relationships with everyone.

My parents – Umesh Chand Rai and Manisha Rai are well educated, and both are into business, which, not surprisingly inspires me to pursue entrepreneurial endeavours, too.

While my father has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from National Institute of Technology at Jamshedpur, my mother has earned a Postgraduate degree in Political Science. Both have encouraged and motivated me to emerge as an individual with immense qualities and talent.

I personally identify, my proficiency in computer sciences. I have a sound knowledge of computer languages, like C, C#, C++, Java, Python, and HTML.

My other competencies in the computer field include MS Office applications – MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

A product of Sri Venkateshwar International School, an institution that I entered as a young, careless boy, and now I stand on the verge leaving as a matured and much more responsible adult.
I have completed my class X in 2017 and will complete my class XII in 2020.
SVIS has always treated me with the utmost care, throughout my transition period, from boyhood to adulthood. The institution has acknowledged my competencies and has facilitated me with merit awards and leadership positions throughout my schooling years.
While in Class X, I was the Prefect for VALUE House (our school has this concept of dividing the entire student population into 4 houses, namely VALUE, INTEGRITY, SINCERITY and STRENGTH). In the following year, in 11th standard, I was elected as the Vice House Captain for VALUE House and Prefect of Cyber Club.
Finally, in 2019, while in Class XII, I was elected as the House Captain for VALUE House. During this while, I was also selected as the Head of the Literary Club and the school Debate team. And most importantly, back in 2018, I was chosen to be the Captain of the School Football Team.
I love a challenge, as it brings out the best in me and encourages me to positively influence my contemporaries. I see myself as a focused, imaginative, and resolute individual who has a knack of taking on daunting tasks and emerging out of them, under restrictive deadlines, as a true champion.
Also, when it comes to debating and public speaking, I genuinely feel I am experienced enough to rank amongst the best.
Whether it is an interhouse or an interschool debate, a declamation, or an extempore, I have aced quite a few of them.
The year 2018 had been quite an eventual one for me. In this year alone, I was acknowledged as the Best Speaker at the BEHES debating competition and won the same accolade at the annual MAHA BEHES national debating competition. My team also stood 1st at BEHES, 2018, and I collected both the team and the individual award.
Moreover, it’s not just about active participation in various competitions, I also have had the chance to organize a debating competition amongst my teachers at my school !!, which went by the name, ‘Mentor’s Debate’.
Quizzes, are something which I feel, help me recognise my untapped intellectual potential. My participation at the National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage Quiz is noteworthy as I have reached the stage final after clearing the pen round, qualifying amongst a highly competitive pool of 200 schools. Another notable achievement was when I secured 3rd position in the Inter-School Debate Competition Panache that was held at Pragati Public School, New Delhi.
I have won individual Gold medals at the World’s Scholar Cup in the Ghaziabad Round under different categories, like Best Debater, Performance in Quiz, and Best Writer.
In 2016, I was also the part of the winning team at ABHIVYAKTI, an Interschool Debate Competition.
In the same year, my first few promising debate performances came which enabled me to secure 1st positions at CBSE in ZONAL LEVEL debate, STATE level debate, and active participation at the Thailand Quiz that was organized by the Tourism Authority of India.
I have been brilliant in sports too. During 2016-19, I won several inter-houses and inter-school football tournaments. I even participated at the Reliance Foundation School Football Championship, and thereafter entered the National Rounds successfully. My participation at the Zonal Level Football Tournament organized by CBSE is also noteworthy.
In 2016, I secured 243rd rank in the NIE Times of India Quiz and made it to the Stage Finals. This was incredible achievement by me as there were 250000 participants.
Also, in the same year, in the Informatics Olympiad organized by Silver Zone, I secured 15th rank in the country wide Olympiad and 1st rank in the school.

Even academically, I never let my guard down. While in class 9th, I won the Merit Certificate for securing 10 CGPA. In class 10th Board Exams, I was felicitated with a Merit Certificate for scoring 100% in Foundation of Information Technology. My oratory skills were on full display in class XI and duly I was acknowledged as the Best Orator of the school. Throughout junior years of schooling, I managed to secure several awards in the field of academics.

My research capabilities have enabled me to submit several research papers including one on ‘Big Data Analysis Techniques to enhance its Effective Implement’ which got published in International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Studies (IJPPS).
Another research paper on ‘Bio-Informatics Techniques in Early Detection of Cancer’ got published in International Journal of Innovations in Applied Sciences and Engineering (IJIASE). Other important research papers that got published include ‘Classification Technique in Content Based Image Retrieval’ and ‘Code Cloning Techniques of Large-Scale Software Systems’. These papers got published in International Journal of Inventions in Engineering & Science Technology (IJIEST) and International Journal of Innovations in Scientific Engineering (IJISE) respectively.
I feel genuinely privileged to live in an era of smartphones, for they make valuable information-sharing, a piece of cake. And I feel I have taken full advantage of this, acquiring valuable technical skills, from a variety of courses covered on edX and Coursera.
In 2017, I completed a course in ‘Math in Sports’ on edX, provided by Notre Dame.
In 2019, I completed courses ‘Introduction to Probability’ and ‘Introduction to Python’ on edX provided by Harvard and Microsoft respectively.
